Definition of Rhythm- rhythm is the variation of repetition in a work of product. It can be further defined variations of multiple forms in space.
Examples
1) A sculptor's rhythm can be interpreted as the organization of multiple forms in space. The way they arrange object(s) can determine the flow of energy and thereby creating a rhythm that is scattered, uniform, or fluid much like that o
f a musician's rhythmic tempo while playing an instrument.
The picture below shows a sense of uniform rhythm that f
lows from one arch to the next. The repetition of the arches adds slow movement to the rhythm as does the repeating
red stripes.
2) A painter's rhythm can be interpreted as the organization of their composition. If the composition is an abstract painting inspired b
y music, and if the music is schizophrenic and scattered the painting will have a much higher, energetic, spastic rhythm.
The picture below shows a strong sense of fluid rhythm. The use of earthy red and brown tones accentuates to the powerful fluidity of the painting. Giving it a character of relaxed bodies in unison, almost as if they are slow dancing.
